Completion of the three year national Human Resource Pilot Project. Funding supplied by Resitgouche CBDC (based in New Brunswick) through Human Resources Development Canada and NT Temps Inc.
Objective: To increase the effectiveness of human resource management practices within small businesses, in order to increase productivities and competitiveness.
Status: Two local businesses participated in this program. The Human Resource Tool Kit was released to all CFDC’s across Canada for distribution in late December 2009.

Member of the Ontario Rural Council
Status: Valerie Ryan has been elected Chair of the Ontario Rural Council and represents the Economic Development Council of Ontario as one of 40 members of The Ontario Rural Council (TORC). The Ontario Rural Council members represent non-profit rural organizations, private sector corporations, the public sector and individuals who bring specialized expertise and resources to the table. Senior members of organizations contribute their in-depth understanding of issues and communicate information back through their respective organizations. Members identify issues and then collaborate to develop innovative solutions and strengthen rural voices.

Status: BREI is an organization that promotes professional support and accreditation for business retention and expansion initiatives. Valerie Ryan is a member of the Board of Directors (holds Secretary position) and Chairs the BREI Awards.
