Goals:
To ensure each community has its own "town" hall.
To address the housing and service needs of seniors.
Action Items:
Build a community/recreation centre that meets the needs of all ages within the community (a meeting space, gym, indoor pool, etc.) and is affordable; discuss the possibility of joint initiatives with private sector services.
Build/retrofit an existing community facility that offers recreation, meeting space, social gatherings; use community volunteers for retrofit initiatives.
Provide a range of housing options (e.g. affordable retirement homes, apartments, long-term care facilities) in the community so local seniors can stay in their homes for as long as possible.
Encourage families (extended families, church families) and neighbours to care for each other so that the elderly can have a better quality of life.
Create interest in the development of a seniors' facility with integrated services, by proposing life leases.
