Goals:
To broaden and strengthen the tourism sector.
To foster the growth of the arts and culture community.
To promote year-round tourism.
To facilitate the development of agri-tourism.
Action Items:
Establish a tourism development committee.
Identify all tourism partners (eco-tourism, pick-your-ownoperations, farmers markets, etc).
Liaise with other counties who have developed marketingprograms for agri-tourism and eco-tourism, farm markets, farmtours etc.
Build on the existing tourist attraction.
Establish a tourism signage program to clearly identifyattractions at key locations (Highway 400 and Highway 27).
Establish a tourism information centre.
Develop new opportunities (e.g. fishing industry).
Encourage bed & breakfast development.
Package local attractions for day trips, including farm tours.
 Create one large community event; organize a SalmonFest; consider re-introduction of the Canoe Race.
Establish a "Fish with Youth" week; host fly-fishing tournaments.
Develop and expand cultural, heritage, and arts festivals; promotecommunity events; encourage tourist attractions such as fairs andspecial theme festivals; establish unique and inviting communityevents; establish a committee to implement a high profile event(e.g. Nottawasaga River race, fishing derby, car show, studio tour,western rodeo, ethnic festivals).
Create an Essa studio tour as well as an arts directory; utilize localarts councils to promote the area as a tourist attraction.Potential Partners:
