Goals:
To satisfy employment demand, thereby allowing young peopleto remain in the community.
To assist businesses to continually improve through strategicalliances.
To resolve human resource challenges and increase trainingopportunities.
Action Items:
Encourage environmentally friendly small businesses through areview of municipal by-laws and consultation with existingsectors to determine compatibility.
Encourage home-based businesses.
 Develop a focus on food production and technology programs.
 Address infrastructure gaps, including the lack of serviced land, telecommunications, water and sewercapacity.
Create a database of local businesses and their products/services.
Encourage chambers of commerce to play a larger role.
Create networking events to encourage strategic business alliances.
Establish a mentoring program in business services (marketing, management, customer service feedback,occupational health and safety, feasibility planning,financing).
Seek opportunities to advertise small businesses through website links.
Develop a pamphlet to support the Ag-Industry Task Force; create a Task Force web site.
Encourage the municipality to demonstrate a positive environment and strong support for small businessdevelopment.
Provide training programs on, and project the success of the following: eco-tourism, niche markets, pick-your-own,farm holidays with bed & breakfasts, and equestrian trails.
Encourage colleges and trade schools to expand their advertising to the local community.
Encourage guidance counsellors to better promote employment opportunities in trades, apprenticeships andcollege education.
Disseminate information on cooperative learning and apprenticeship programs in high schools, to localemployers.
Research funding programs to assist with employee training, youth employment and office expansion.
