Goals:
To advance total waste diversion/recycling initiatives.
To establish Adjala-Tosorontio's own integrated wastemanagement facility, separate from the County.
Action Items:
Develop partnerships to build an integrated waste managementfacility, open year-round.
Maintain the current pilot program within the Township.
Educate adjoining municipalities on the benefits of the pilotprogram, and work collaboratively to expand the programbeyond the Township's borders.
Lobby the provincial government to put pressure on industry tochange packaging.
Encourage cloth diaper usage.
Create a recycling assistance linking program to provide weeklyassistance to seniors.
Research options for recycling plastics.
Research easier means of transferring waste from houses to theroadside.
Encourage the municipality to purchase brown bags in bulk andsell them at a reduced rate to taxpayers, for use in Green Boxes.Potential Partners:
